British Theatre Before & After Covid

I’ve just published a new report on British Theatre Before & After Covid, tracing how our theatre changed between those years. It’s been a longtime labour of love, cowritten with David Edgar (project manager supreme), with the support of Arts Council England, and in collaboration with SOLT and UK Theatre. It’s a product of the British Theatre Consortium, an association of playwrights and academics, and I am a founder-member.

The report is the first deep dive into the detail of what British theatre put on, for how long, how many came, and what they spent — and how those things changed between the two years. It’s already getting some good responses and generating significant debate.
