It’s the BBC Audio Drama Awards and my play Restless Dreams was up for a couple of things.
The play itself was shortlisted for the Tinniswood Award, probably the most prestigious award for new radio plays, named after the legendary radio playwright Peter Tinniswood. It’s not actually one of the BBC Audio Drama Awards, but it is presented on the day. I didn’t win but, hell, it’s genuinely extraordinary to be nominated and I was happy to lose out to Man Friday, Edson Burton’s bold and witty rethinking of Robinson Crusoe.
And then the play was up for Best Use of Sound, which delighted me because the soundscape created by Eloise Whitmore (sound designer) and Polly Thomas (director) creates a wonderfully vivid and imaginative journey through this impossible train. And it won! Here’s me sharing in Eloise’s glory.
